Just finished reading the 500+ book titled "The Mosquito" where, due to the transmission of malaira and yellow fever, the insect is blamed (in part) for every event in history, starting with its role in the extinction of the dinosaurs and the outcome of every war (Revolutionary, Civil WWI, WWII, Vietnam, etc, etc). So if you are looking for someone to blame, the mosquito is an all purpose culprit.
